The PFPI Disaster Recovery Fund for Bohol and Leyte

firefox PATH Foundation Philippines Inc. (PFPI) works with disadvantaged coastal communities in Bohol and Leyte to promote integrated approaches to food security that improve human and ecosystem health and sustainable livelihoods. Since 2001, over 1,000 community volunteers (adults and youth) from fifteen coastal municipalities in Bohol and Leyte have been trained to serve as change agents for communities to adapt and apply the integrated approach to food security.

Recently, two major disasters hit the country- a 7.2 magnitude earthquake and Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) that affected the coastal communities in the Provinces of Bohol and Leyte. The community volunteers were not spared from this tragedy. To date, majority of them are still suffering from the effects of the calamities and still lacking the basic needs such as potable water, shelter, medicine and electricity.

Daisy Oņas, one of our exemplary youth change agent, survived for days without food and water. With her house destroyed, she and her family were forced to sleep for a week on the rice fields. She is only one of over 300 youth volunteers whose lives were affected by the tragedy. Although not their priority now, these youth still want to continue volunteering for the project and they all hope life returns to normal soon.

Help the volunteers recover and rebuild their lives. Donate any amount to the PFPI Disaster Recovery Fund for Bohol and Leyte. Your donations will be provide the immediate and intermediate needs of the volunteers, their families, and communities.
